My love for making cocktails started when I was a young girl. I was 1 of 5 kids whose dad worked 2 jobs to support us. So, if you wanted 1 on 1 time with dad you had to get creative. I knew dad liked to have a drink when he came home on a Friday night after a long work week so I taught myself how to make his favorite; a gin martini, and would have it waiting for him when he got home. I am pretty sure the first one I made was nothing more than some gin in a glass with an olive in it but he loved it. Or, at least he said he did. That one event turned into many years of great one on one time with my dad. Over the years I perfected my skills and made the perfect beefeater gin dirty martini shaken with anchovy olives. At least to him it was.
That evolved into my desire to serve a special cocktail concoction every time I had guests over. Following those occasions I was often asked to share my recipes. Some were adaptations of a drink I had at a restaurant or my spin on a classic cocktail. I’ve even had the honor of creating a signature cocktail for friends’ weddings and hosted happy hour events to test my cocktail creations and as an excuse to get together with some of my co-workers and friends.
From that spawned a desire to share my cocktail creations with more people so I created this blog. Hope you find one that becomes your new favorite or inspires you to experiment yourself. Salute!
p.s. A few years back, I learned my dad actually hated martinis-he just thought he looked cool drinking out of a martini glass.
